DESCRIPTION: Elmer O. Stennes, Weymouth, Mass., "No. 4 made in 1969" 8-day Banjo or Patent Timepiece reproduction. Case is stamped M.C.I.P. (Mass Correctional Institute, Plymouth)
CONDITION: mahogany banded inlayed case in very fine condition. Original tablets, dial, hands, eagle finial and stamped weight. A good example of Stennes work. Stennes was in his first year of incarceration for murdering his wife when this clock was made {murder was Dec 1968}. Details of his friendliness with the warden and the establishment of a jail house cabinet shop can be found on the internet. Note the warden received #1, and this is #4. Movement and dial are properly signed. Ht 29"
